206 76th Street has been fully structurally reinforced and continuously tied-down from roof to foundations to resist hurricane-force winds. The exposed post and beam framing on the inside is an integral part of this tie-down structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pre-engineered connector plates by Simpson Ties. Existing built-up beam (4 x 2 x  8s) dividing Living Room from Dining Room is sistered with a 14″ deep parallel strand lumber beam (seen behind it).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each roof rafter is hurricane strapped-down into the bond beam at the top of the exterior block walls. Access holes to install vertical rebar tie-down reinforcing (below windows) are patched. Existing bedroom windows were relocated to suit new interior layout, however heritage window dimensions, proportions and sill elevation above the finished floor were maintained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heritage double doors and half sidelights were replaced with hurricane resistant, fully glazed double doors with full height sidelights. Doors and sidelights have micro blinds between glazing. Rafter tie-down straps ring the building soffit perimeter. Former Lanai slab demolished and removed after this photo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
