We offer a record of the renovations to our ‘mid-century modern’ style Florida home in Holmes Beach Florida as it was transformed from a 1953 vintage time capsule to a completely updated (Codes and amenities) vacation home.
All major heritage interior and exterior style elements were either “preserved, echoed or reflected” in the renovation design.

Hurricane Resistance Proved
We are pleased to report that neither hurricane Helene, nor hurricane Milton (within weeksof each other) had any appreciable effect on Promise Kept.
The renovations to improve hurricane resistance (e.g. structural engineering , hurricane windows, durable materials and assemblies etc.) proved entirely effective . Hurricane Helen’s storm surge resulted in 2 feet of water outside Promise Kept, however only 1″ of flood water managed to seep inside causing some relatively minor damage e.g. carpets. and one bed frame to water damage; this was insinificant compared to other properties in the neighborhood and on the island.
Hurricane Milton’s wind force caused damage to trees both on and adjacent to our property however the tied-down roof structure and roof membrane withstood the test.
